How to choose absinthe?
A product with the same name has a different color, bottle appearance, cost and other things. And all - indicated absinthe.
It is necessary to carefully examine the label: the name of the drink (spelling tells about the country of origin):
Absinthe - France (Absente in France is called a liquid drink, imitating the original product, it is a targeted marketing game.)
Absinthe - Czech Republic.
Absence - Italy, Spain.
"Refined absinthe" or "thujone-free" is purified absinthe that does not contain thujone (this substance is banned in several countries).
Proof - the fortress of absinthe. 1 sample = 0.5% alcohol.
This is proof = 150, meaning 75% alcohol content (it just needs to be divided by two).
"Distilled" is a method of distilling alcohol.
Mg / kg or ppm is the thujone content. If such a label is not found on the label, do not immediately doubt the originality of the drink. This may mean that the thujone content is less than 10 mg/kg, which fully corresponds to the absinthe norms of the European Union.
