Irish Caffe is a drink made from hot coffee, sugar and cream-covered whiskey.

The story goes that the first Irish Caffe was created by Joe Sheridan, the chef at Foynes, County Limerick.

He made coffee for a group of American tourists who had just arrived in Ireland on a cold winter's night and thought of adding whiskey to warm them up.

When asked what it was, Joe Sheridan said it was "Irish coffee".
