The 58 mm Blind Filter Basket is an essential maintenance accessory for professional and semi-professional espresso machines equipped with a three-way solenoid valve. Because the basket has no holes, it allows pressure to build inside the brew group during the Backflush cleaning process, helping remove coffee oils, residues and internal deposits.

Regular Backflushing is considered one of the most important maintenance procedures for preserving espresso quality and extending the service life of the brew group components.

What is Backflushing?

Backflushing is a cleaning process in which the blind filter completely blocks the water outlet. The pump generates pressure inside the group head, forcing the three-way solenoid valve to discharge water together with accumulated coffee oils and residues from the internal brewing circuit.

This procedure helps keep the brew group clean while maintaining consistent espresso flavour and extraction quality.

Use together with Puly Caff cleaning powders

For maximum cleaning efficiency, the blind filter basket should be used together with professional espresso machine cleaning powders such as Puly Caff Plus® or Puly Caff Verde®. These detergents dissolve stubborn coffee oils while the Backflush cycle removes them from the group head and solenoid valve.
