A Cherry Tree in Bloom. A Steel Surface. And a Few Quiet Seconds Behind the Bar.

Some of the most elegant moments in a cocktail bar don't come from the shaker. They happen when the bartender adds ice, measures the ingredients and slowly begins to rotate a Bar Spoon inside a Mixing Glass.

The movement is calm. The cocktail gradually cools. Dilution develops under control. And for a few seconds, the tool in the bartender's hand becomes part of the presentation.

The SAKURA MIXTIN™ Metal Mixing Glass [Cocktail KINGDOM] 625ml was created for exactly this kind of moment.

Designed in collaboration with bartender Nico de Soto, the model combines the professional MIXTIN™ construction with a Sakura motif inspired by the cherry blossom – one of the most recognizable symbols associated with Japanese culture.

The result is more than a vessel for mixing a cocktail. It is a Mixing Glass with visual identity, technical construction and enough personality to deserve a visible place on the bar.

SAKURA – When the Tool Becomes Part of the Presentation

With a traditional glass Mixing Glass, the spectacle happens inside: you can see the ice, the liquid and the movement of the ingredients.

SAKURA changes the perspective.

The contents remain hidden, shifting attention towards the bartender's movement, the Bar Spoon and the decorated surface of the vessel.

The Sakura motif gives this model an immediately recognizable identity. Under cocktail-bar lighting, the metal surface and decorative pattern become part of the preparation ritual.

You don't watch the cocktail through the Mixing Glass. You watch the cocktail being created around it.

Designed in Collaboration with Nico de Soto

SAKURA belongs to the range developed by Cocktail Kingdom in collaboration with Nico de Soto, an internationally recognized bartender associated with a modern approach to cocktail culture.

For a professional tool, a collaboration like this makes sense when the design goes beyond appearance. A Mixing Glass has to work during real service: it needs enough room for ice, it should allow natural Bar Spoon movement and it must work comfortably alongside the bartender's other tools.

SAKURA brings these two sides together: a visually distinctive object and a tool designed for professional use.

MIXTIN™ – A Mixing Glass That Leaves Glass Behind

The MIXTIN™ name describes the concept particularly well: the function of a Mixing Glass reinterpreted in metal.

SAKURA is made from 18/8 stainless steel, a material suited to repeated professional use and contact with beverages.

Compared with a traditional glass Mixing Glass, the most obvious practical difference is resistance to breakage.

The metal construction eliminates the breakage risk associated with glass, a relevant advantage in a busy bar where tools are constantly used, moved and cleaned.

But SAKURA does more than simply replace glass with metal. Its construction goes a step further.

Double-Wall Vacuum Insulation – What Does It Actually Do?

SAKURA MIXTIN™ uses a double-wall, vacuum-insulated construction.

This structure helps reduce heat transfer between the cold interior of the vessel and the surrounding environment, contributing to more consistent thermal conditions during preparation.

It is important, however, to understand the role of this insulation correctly.

The purpose of a Mixing Glass is not to prevent the ice from melting completely.

During stirring, a certain amount of water from melting ice becomes part of the cocktail. This dilution is intentional and contributes to the final balance of the drink.

A bartender is controlling temperature and dilution at the same time. Vacuum insulation should therefore be understood as a way of reducing heat transfer through the walls of the vessel, not as a promise that the ice will not melt.

625ml – Why This Capacity?

A Mixing Glass needs considerably more room than the volume of liquid ingredients in the recipe.

Ice occupies a large part of the vessel, while the Bar Spoon needs enough space to move smoothly around it. Total capacity should therefore not be confused with the amount of finished cocktail that can be prepared.

With a capacity of 625ml / 21 oz, SAKURA sits between compact models and larger 700–800ml Mixing Glasses.

The manufacturer positions this size for approximately 2–3 drinks, depending on the recipe and the quantity and size of ice used.

This format can be particularly useful if you:

  • want enough room for ice and smooth Bar Spoon movement;
  • prepare individual cocktails or multiple servings depending on the recipe;
  • prefer something more compact than a large 700–800ml Mixing Glass;
  • need a professional vessel for stirred cocktails;
  • want to combine professional functionality with premium presentation.

625ml is the total capacity of the vessel, not the recommended amount of finished cocktail.

What Would We Stir First in SAKURA?

Its design has a strong personality, but its primary function remains classic: preparing cocktails using the stirring technique.

  • Dry Martini – minimalist in composition, with very little room for error in temperature or dilution;
  • Manhattan – one of the great classics most closely associated with stirring;
  • Negroni – structurally simple, yet dependent on balance;
  • Boulevardier – bold, elegant and well suited to a premium presentation;
  • Martinez – for those exploring the roots of classic cocktail culture;
  • signature cocktails – when technique and presentation need to work together.

Metal SAKURA or Glass YARAI?

They offer two different experiences, not two different levels of quality.

A glass YARAI allows you to visually follow the ingredients, ice and movement of the liquid. Its decorative glass pattern is also part of the classic aesthetic associated with Japanese-style Mixing Glasses.

Metal SAKURA hides the contents and shifts attention towards the tool and the bartender's movements. Its metal construction also eliminates the breakage risk associated with glass and allows the use of a double-wall, vacuum-insulated structure.

  • Choose a glass YARAI if you want transparency and direct visual control;
  • choose SAKURA if you prefer metal, breakage resistance, vacuum insulation and a distinctive design.

SAKURA, Mr SLIM or DIAMOND?

If you've already decided on a metal Mixing Glass, these three models represent three different approaches.

Mr SLIM ORIGINAL 580ml is the minimalist choice: Made in Japan, compact, clean-surfaced and understated.

SAKURA MIXTIN™ 625ml [Cocktail KINGDOM] adds double-wall vacuum insulation and the distinctive Sakura design created within the Nico de Soto collaboration.

DIAMOND 700ml [UrbanBAR] is the largest of the three and places stronger emphasis on the visual impact of its geometric Diamond surface.

  • Mr SLIM 580ml: Japanese minimalism and compact format;
  • SAKURA 625ml: artistic design + vacuum insulation + Nico de Soto collaboration;
  • DIAMOND 700ml: larger capacity and strong visual presence.

The choice is less about asking “which one is best?” and more about how you work and what personality you want your bar station to have.

Mixing Glass or Shaker?

A Mixing Glass and a Shaker are tools for different techniques.

In SAKURA, ingredients are mixed with ice using a Bar Spoon. Stirring allows gradual chilling and controlled dilution and is frequently used for clear, spirit-forward cocktails.

A Shaker creates much more vigorous agitation and is commonly used for recipes containing citrus juice, syrups or other ingredients that require more energetic integration.

The right tool isn't determined by which one looks more spectacular. The recipe determines the technique.

Compatibility with Professional Strainers

SAKURA MIXTIN™ is designed for professional use alongside strainers commonly used for stirred cocktails.

The manufacturer indicates compatibility with Koriko®, Buswell® and Large Antique Cocktail Strainer models.

In practice, fit can also depend on the dimensions and shape of the individual strainer, but this compatibility provides a useful reference for bartenders already using Cocktail Kingdom tools.

Cleaning and Care

To help preserve the decorative surface, we recommend hand washing.

Use water, mild liquid detergent and a soft, non-abrasive sponge or cloth.

Avoid metal scrubbers, abrasive cleaning powders and repeated contact with hard objects that could scratch the surface.

For the same reason, we do not recommend dishwasher cleaning.

After washing, rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
